Meduno Castle
Dated 1136, Meduno Castle was assigned as residence to the ruling family of the time, whose lords were feudal lords of the Bishop of Concordia. The remains of this fortress that towered over the town until the 17th century, when it was damaged and later abandoned, are still visible today. Over time, various restoration and enhancement works have been carried out to clean it of vegetation and consolidate the wall sections that were in a precarious state of preservation. In addition, the slope and flattish grounds outside the walls have been reshaped to facilitate the visits by the public and to make the site safer.
“They were nest of ancient sparrowhawks” (“Furono nido di antichi sparvieri”) is the result of a research project, documentation and enhancement of the Castles located in the Pordenone foothills. Here to you is the Castle of Meduno …

How to get there
To reach the castle ruins, start from the small square in front of the church in Meduno and take the tarmac road leading to the small church of San Martino. Just before the little church, on the left, go down the cart track that leads to the aqueduct reservoir. To the northwest, after about fifty metres, are the remains of the castle.
